A Center for Multiple (Good) Uses

When finished, the multi-purpose center in the GK Fiat Village is expected to have multiple uses and to benefit all members of the community.It is also expected to grow with the needs of the villagers.

Livelihood Center

The villagers now have a fleging smoked-fish operation that suffers from lack of a proper working space. A portion of the center will in all probability be set aside to house this activity. With operations moved indoors - and free from the vagaries of the weather = production will be more reliable and could provide a much, more steady income for the villagers.

Showroom and Store

The GK Fiat village is ideally located, along the road to the Bacolod-Silay international airport and can become a natural stopover for gifts and souvenirs. The center, or an extension of it, can easily be converted into a Pasalubong (gift) Store for local handicrafts, as well as native products produced by other GK villages in the province.

Training and Learning Center

The village is currently host to a pre-primary school, called Sibol school, which caters to very young children of the village as well as the neighboring areas. The center will provide this school with a bigger, shaded teaching facility for informal classes and activities.

At the same time the center can be used to host regular village meetings and discussion groups, and for workshops and training activities.

Tourist Destination

A Shrine for the Blessed Virgin Mary can now be found at the center of The GK Fiat Village. With the building of the center, villagers and village organizersplan to beautify the area around the shrine to provide a place of solace, prayer and meditation. It is hoped, that this, in turn will attract regular visitors to the center.
